AI as a technical manager: Expert to expert

Gerhard, were you immediately enthusiastic about using AI?

AI will be an integral part of the future. That's why I was very grateful when I was able to learn how to use artificial intelligence effectively via mytalents.ai. You think you can quickly notice the first progress — what are the benefits of using artificial intelligence in your day-to-day work?

The time saved by using AI is particularly noticeable. I hand over work steps to artificial intelligence and am therefore able to complete individual tasks much faster. On average, I have saved around 1 to 2 hours a week since taking MyTalents.ai courses. That is the biggest advantage for me.

What tasks are you handing over to AI? Has the use affected your abilities?

I use AI in patent research, planning and for various office activities that otherwise eat up a lot of time. In fact, AI has even had a positive impact on the way I work. I approach evaluations and planning more carefully — without losing efficiency. My rational work and thinking were strengthened.

Would you like to take this opportunity to introduce us to your most successful AI use case?

Yes, I'd love to. Using research software in coordination with ChatGPT, I did a detailed patent search of competitors and lo and behold, a patent infringement by competitors was actually identified. Fortunately, by using ChatGPT, we quickly recognized them.

Are there any AI tools that you prefer to work with or do you only use ChatGPT?

Depending on the application, I opt for a different tool. I like to use ChatGPT for patent research, Copilot and Adobe Firefly for planning, and for office tasks I like to switch between Copilot and ChatGPT because they perform different tasks differently. Fortunately, you'll soon get the hang of the courses and know which tool is the best way to complete which task.

With so much use of AI, you've certainly faced challenges, right? Which ones stuck in your mind in particular?

When working with artificial intelligence, forward-looking thinking is particularly important. If I already start communicating poorly with an AI tool, the end result will be accordingly. In the beginning, I often had to start over again because the prompting was inadequate. Mastering the basics is very important when using AI.

In addition, it is not that easy to convince other employees to use AI. Especially colleagues who have been with the company for a long time. In doing so, we could save a lot of time if we all hand over one or the other task.

Many are still in their infancy when it comes to using AI: What tips would you give AI beginners?

Don't be afraid and want to develop something new. AI isn't as bad as everyone says. It depends on the right use. In the future, there will only be cooperation between AI and humans. I'm sure of that. It is therefore better to learn how to use it early enough.

You are already very experienced in using AI, which MyTalents.ai course has helped you the most?

Definitely data protection and image creation with AI. Profound knowledge in the area of data protection is an integral part of the use of AI in companies. In this way, you can be sure that all data is well protected and works with the AI tools with confidence.

Are there any other courses that you would like to take or would you like to see specific courses on the mytalents.ai platform?

The automation technology and technical management courses have been smiling at me for a long time. I'll be working on that soon. Otherwise, I'm happy with the selection — maybe more subject-specific courses would be a great addition.
